hard to time a car that doesnt start

yea im TDC #1 when dizzy was restabbed. i even checked twice. i know its right. and i dunno if its points ignition, more than likely yes but with strong spark i doubt that'd be the issue.

but i turned the dizzy side to side while trying to start would more than enough to compensate for 1-2 teeth off. my dizzy stab is spot on. the only thing i can this of is if the cam is waaaayyyyyy out of whack or not enough compression. but i in either case im probably better off tearing it apart myself and redo'ing everything. its pretty evident the ex husband didnt do anythign right. he probably didnt even torque the headbolts and blew the gaskets or didnt have the heads checked either.

now that i've talked through it there is a lot he probably didnt do. might as well tear it apart and do it myself to make sure its done right.

put it on 1 ATDC on compression stroke and pull the timing cover, that would be the only way to tell if the cam is right... better than rippin it completely apart

points will make it not run if there bad, well the condenser i should say, just go get new ones and put them in a points and condenser kit is only like 7bucks. i would start there, and i would change the plugs as well.

Sounds exactly like my car when i f__d it up with a cam the first time, wrong distributer stab, wrong firing order, and a tooth off it was a learning experiance

What firing order did you use? 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 or 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

well idk if the same effects from a bike can happen to a car but.. I let my bike sit in a damp garage over a New York winter and come spring she wouldnt start. Problem was piston rings were rusted.. dumped some marvel mystery oil in the sparkplug holes let sit and penetrate, then tried to start it and then finally turned over .. at first it would smoke like hell.. but after that, rings were fine and she ran
