Default How high?

How high have you rev your "stock" or relatively stock 5.0 mustang without blowing it?

Define "relatively stock."

What do you mean by rev? When the car is neutral and you are just free revving it? Or do you mean when you are actually driving. When I drive I go to 6000rpm under full throttle, but I do have "stock" internals. I never free-rev the motor, unless I am trying to figure out a problem with the motor.

when it was still a stock type short block we would rev it to 6800. then moved it back down to 6200 but I did see 7500 a few times in the burn out box and a few times when the shifter was having problems. But we did have a good rod bolt in the rods. we also run a EPEC tuner so we can move the rev limiter where we want.

If you still have stock valve springs, there is no reason to rev it higher than 5200. It won't be faster and it won't make more power.

I mean while in a pull (acceleration) how high has your motor tached? Im not a fan of free revving..You are just asking for trouble in my eyes when you do that, and when I mean relatively stock Im meaning stock rods, crank and internals

pretty much stock with gears, trans swap, e303 springs roller rockers, and pushrods (fooling around with my buddy) i accidently forgot to shift....... needless to say i hit 7200 before going "O $H!T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" and shifting
that was one time, over a year ago and the car still runs fine! i usually shift around 6200 now
