Default 300rwhp 12.5 carbed 302's Come Forth!

Well boys... I'm collecting ideas...

Gonna have a dynojet in the area come the end of may. If I can't get my new H/C/I to perform well and post up numbers around 300 rwhp & 300+ ftlb/torque; and or give me a 12.5 in the 1/4, I'm gonna rip it all off, sell it and go carbed.

I'm the kinda person who never gives up till I reach my goals and my goal is 12.5... and it's gotta happen. I've spent too much time and money not to.. It's the last piece of my puzzle.

So what's your combination and what kinda power/times are you getting?

Thanks!

What gears are you running? Switching to a carb doesn't mean your going to be faster. In fact for the price of going carb you might be able to go stroker or somthing else, like a cheap super.

4:10's

And nope no f/i, n/a all the way.

I know that going carbed doesn't mean it'll make me faster, it's just if I have to rebuild I'm gonna go carbed because that's what I prefer. And I will be rebuilding if my current set up doesn't reach my goals. I already have a Crane Ignition system anyway so that's some money saved.. and with the money I'd have from selling my efi **** it would pay the rest.

So any ideas?

As far as combos, I'm running AFR 165's(not the comp package) with a little Crane 1.7rr Cobra replacement cam(small emissions legal hyd roller), lighter internals, and with LT's, UDP's, Crane dizzy/Hi-6 and Mallory coil, and the mph in my sig was with a low rise dual plane Weiand intake and a mediocre 570cfm Holley carb. The power's there for mid 12's but I'm getting butt-raped by my own suspension, 60's are killing me. Now I'm running an RPM Air Gap and a Quick Fuel carb, so it should be good for some more mph. If I could get some decent suspension under it, it might go mid 12's on street tires, but definitely on a DR. I just don't wanna pop my 8" diff, so no DR's.

Just to give you an idea of what it takes to get a 302 to put down the power for mid 12's. Generally you're looking at something that's gonna need a 105mph trap with a good launch, up to around a 110-112mph trap with a crappy launch(ballpark figures), and that's sorta true for just about any car.

Either carb or EFI will do it no problem.

'going carbed' is something a lot of people do when they dont know how to work with efi, obd1,2, or pre obd, or they cant find someone who does.

Im not saying that switching to a carb is for retards, however many people who are having trouble getting efi tuned in properly use the carb idea as a bandaid.

I should be right near 12.5, a little above maybe, when I start spraying 100.

Im pretty sure that once you iron out your running issues, you wil be MORE than happy with the engine combination you have assembled

Well suspension can do alot for you man. Nearly stock stangs can hit 12's with just a little bit of work.

12.5 @ 112 on street tires with a 1.9 60ft...link in sig. It's probably a lot more done than what you have yet you have a steeper gear. I'm guessing you'll hit mid-high 12s.
