Default H/C/I update.

My c&l mass air is bad so I got a new one on the way along with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator... should take care of my a/f problem. (was running rich at idle and lean at open throttle).

Kept blowing all my coolant out the overflow, did some tests... everything came back negative...didn't make sense... drained the air 4 times and put more prestone in each time... engine gave way and started steaming out the exhaust... head gasket or cracked/warped head.. something's fcuked..

Anyhow.. it's all coming out and back apart... restart and try again. Supposed to be going to a dyno the end of may with the two mustangs so hopefully it'll be ready by then...

Yup, live and learn I guess. Must be nice having a "clean room" to build an engine instead of a corner at my buddies shop. One day... when I win the lottery Definitely not going with Felpro gaskets this time.. Didn't make sense; the head gaskets said front on each side so the only way to put them on "frontways" was to have one corkside up and one corkside down. Dunno if that has anything to do with my situation. None the less, I'll see what pistons are washed and assess the problem from there, I'll keep y'all informed.

i doubt you have pistons washed..i'd be worried if you hydro-locked the motor<you can bend some parts in a hurry.

it sounds that you have fubarred a set of hg...if coolant can't flow and builds extreme pressure it has to go somewhere ..over flow tank..cracked radiator..freeze plugs..

That's a tough one, hopefully its just a head gasket issue and you will be back up and running soon.

I had the same problem after I had my heads off....coolant making a mess everywhere, ended up being a bad torque wrench and under torqued head bolts. So after another set of Felpros and head bolts (chased the threads in the block to clean them out extra good also) I had it back up and running, been 4 years now.

I am sure you will get it figured out. Good luck!!

dont blame the gaskets on a shotty build...

I've used felpro gaskets in every car I have ever built, and never had ANY problems.

If I were you, I'd put a close scrutinizing eye to every piece of your build... Including pressurizing the cooling system with no plugs in the motor... let the pressure drop in the system and crank the motor over and see which cylinder the coolant comes out of.. and I would recommend doing this with the upper intake off.

Ive seen people run this test (after I advised them to) and they had coolant backing up out of their intake manifold!

I'm not blaming the gaskets in the least I just don't understand felpro's reasoning for needing one gasket corkside up and one down..

None the less, ya I respect your opinion and I'll try the test.

No doubt it's just something stupid that I overlooked, anyhow, I'll let you know the outcome.
