Default new to mustangs... need help!

hey folks...

I have just bought a 1991 LX 5.0, aod, notch, teal green (eww)

Anyways, i've always been into trucks and offroading, never mustangs.

I want to warm up the stock 5.0, currently wearing 75xxx miles.

I was thinking something along the lines of a CAI, intake manifold, headers and exhaust, maybe a small shot of NO2

Now.... is it worth the $? Also, how strong is that AOD? And finally, what sort of times can be expected? (no, I havent spent much time on a strip)

with the mods your wanting to do you might pick up 25-35hp. i dont think the aod is very strong in those cars. if you spray it i wouldn't go over a 100hp shot. you could have a set of 3.73's or 4.10's put in it for about what the nitrous kit would cost. i think you could probably run low 13's or high 12's with those mods and a 100hp shot.

dont bother swapping in a cam unless you are doing heads and an intake as well..

If you're gonna do a cam, wait until you do new heads and then do it. A cam with stock E7's will help, but a new cam requires an upgraded valvetrain. Putting money into stock heads is as good as taking it from your wallet and throwing it directly in the trash. Do bolt on's for now, then when the time and money is right, get a nice matched H/C/I combo.

do exhaust, gears and CAI.

later on down the road go for cams, heads and all that jazz.

if your on a budget for now stick to bolt on's

Gears, H/C/I, exhaust and then worry about nitrous.

i say save up to do either a manual swap, or a built AOD, i had an aod in my car when i started out, and the thing destroyed itself once a shift kit and a few other modifications were added...
and agreed (cause i did it) dont do a cam swap! doesnt do JACK for power on stock heads and intake, only makes it sound better
Start with the rear end and work your way forward
