Question Track Questions ?

I will be going to the track in a week and a half. I have a couple of questions. You can see by my sig the mods I have, that may help with the answers. I am running street tires (245/60/16) and I would think that rolling them over a couple of times would be sufficient because heating them up alot is not going to make a difference. My second questions is what's a good RPM to launch at? This will be my first time so I'm just looking to go have some fun. I am done with engine mods at this point, unless I come across a reasonable set of heads. My mods from here on out will be suspension. As usual I appreciate your advice.

Your going to have to feather the clutch regardless with those tires

spin the tire's for just a split second, dont even touch the water, just go beside it, spin the tire's upto the line to get the rock's out of the tread.

you can launch off like 1200rpm, that way your not just spinning the crap out of them. Almost any RPM you will spin, so play around with it.

good luck!

lol, street tires and 3.73's i can launch around 3k or so and have little spin but im also rolling out of the hole, i dont dump it...plus im more suspensioned out than you... you cant dump on street tires and especially when you have 410's on street tires. just mess with it a few times before you actually go...it'll be easier to adjust.

Drive around the water box, do a very short burnout (just enough to clean the dirt and rocks off the tires, don't dry hop, then when you launch roll out like you would a traffic light and then turn it loose. Each car is differant as well as each tire. If I were you and planned to make frequent trips to the track an investment in a set of drag radials and spare wheels would be a good investment. Look for 13.80-14.20's depending on altitude.

Thanks for the input guys, I'll let you know what happens. This is also kind of a test to check the difference in times before and after suspesion upgrades.
