Default FMX Trans

I took my T-5 out and replaced it with an FMX trans. I was woundering if anyone could tell me what shifter would do best. I would also like to know about the linkage, will the brackets for the c-4 or c-6 work, as far as hooking up the shifter cable.

Why an FMX? Those things are HEAVY and not alot of parts for them. A c4/c6 shifter isnt going to work unless you can figure out a way to run the cable around to the front og the lever on the trans. It can be done, but it will take alot of work. Do a search on the net and you'll see what I mean.

Better get some subframe connectors cause you car is going to sag in the middle with that cast iron tranny, lol

The C6 linkage or the C4 won't work if you are using any kind of cable shifter. Your best bet would be to buy a cheap universal mounted shifter like the Hurst IndyMatic and modify the brackets to go on. I know this will work because I did a few floor shifter conversions back in the 70's on some galaxies with the FMX.

My advise would be to pull that FMX out and haul it for scrap and use the money and put it towards a C4 or C6

FMX are not the best trans. gone and suffer from lack of performance parts. and like said they are very HEAVY. a C-4 is twice the trans. of a FMX.
