Default Long journey close to over(pics inside)

This is Jamie's car(gt884me)
347 stroker, comp cam xe270hr-14, AFR165, BBK SSI intake

he's gone through so many troubles with this car including a motor assembled incorrectly, given the wrong block from the machine shop...just numerous issues. now him and I have gotten it all back together the right way...but...not started yet.

we're having a bit of an issue getting it started. we've had it running. just runs rich and like crap. base timing 10*. stabbed the dizzy number 1 cylinder at TDC compression stroke umpteen times. it has to be retarded back so far for it to even start but then once started and running it wont stay running like that. you have to advance back to 10* for it to stay running. generally it wont run on its own without help. we had it running once by itself for about 4-5 minutes without issues. then once we shut it off and tried to start it again. it wouldnt even start. we kind of gave up for the night and we'll try again later.

the plugs are sooty black. o2's are in and hooked up, maf works(unpluged it and it died right away) no vac leaks we can find, stock FPR due to BBK's gay design and you cant hook a gauge right up to a FPR so we had to put the stocker back on. IAC works, no EGR or emissions....this is driving us nuts.

yes, we even used a different dizzy. it's even ran before i ever touched it. unfortunately the motor was far from assembled correctly so it had to be completely redone. so i know it's built correctly. just cant get the damn thing started for whatever reason.

ok, you probably got this and double checked this.

But.
Do you have the wires connected in the right sequence and they are all good.

I bought these little plug ends that connect at the end of the wires on top of the plugs, they have a little light and flash when it gets a spark.

+1 on the intake even though it is one of the nicest "looking" intakes in the biz, have heard nothing but shart about them performace-wise. Although I can't help you with your problem, I fear exactly the same thing will happen if I try to bulge out my motor. I mean here I am with a puuuuuuuurfect running (albeit power deficient) motor. I install some AFR 165's, a Comp 270XRE (?) cam and a Typhoon intake and the thing won't run, or pass emissions...I want more power that's for sure, but not at the expense of everyday driveabilty. After considering all the variables, I may just spend the 3grand and put a procharger on what I have now. I would much prefer natural aspiratiion but I've heard far too many stories of big dyno #'s and failed emissions with worked motors. I hope you get up and running soon. I have some three thousand dollar questions to answer thanks to you...

i sure we'll get it running, i just think we were tired and frustrated with working on it. the first thing that sucked was that we had to put the stock FPR on because you cant hard mount the FPR guage onto the FPR. lame.... and we couldnt find a fitting to attach the gauge to the fuel line itself. ugh..... so yea that started the day just dandy. lol!

we verified firing order 100000000000000000000000000 times over. heh...
