Default burning smell?

ok, so I got my car fixed, the intake got resealed and no more problems....

today I went out to best buy, came home, car sat for an hour, cranked it up, and a light cloud of white smoke, shot outta the pipes, with a burning wood/plastic smell.

I quickly killed the engine, restarted it and it didnt do it again...

all my shop did was pull the upper and lower intake, put in new gaskets and buttoned her back up...car has run fine since they fixed it, no stalling, no running rough, sucking down the normal amount of gas.

they put in fresh coolant and oil, I checked the levels, and they are good... Ive started and drove the car three times today, and it only did that junk once...

any thoughts?

I wouldn't worry about it too much Bill, just make sure no oil is leaking onto the exhaust

I'll have to double check everything in the morning... there are greasy fingerprints all over my upper intake, dizzy, valve covers and when I looked today... my fenders... when I picked her up on friday it was POURING out... so I really didnt get to give her my usual look over before I leave the shop

I figure oil or something prolly dribbled into the intake runners when they pulled off the lower....

im gonna call the shop tomorrow. i honestly think they rushed the job... and they lost the cover for the eec test plugs... kinda pissed at the shoddy work, and i looked at her again today and it looks like a light smoke is coming out at startup, something its never done before. but that may just be in my head.

shoulda done it myself in hindsight i guess

i DON'T KNOW IF I'd say it's shoddy work, just a little sloppy on the finishing touches

shoddy may be a bit harsh, I'm just a little disgruntled, leaving work today she did it again, so I have to wonder if a gasket didnt seal right and its now burning oil, but the oil is clean and there is no coolant in it, nor vice versa...

I'll be calling them in the morning to be like "where is my little cover piece, and what did you do to my 5.0?"

ok, called my mechanic, he said he is going to check the PCV, and that he has my cover in his box... I'm just going to have have him look at it and not fugger with it myself in case it was their blunder. they are good with fixing their own mistakes if they make them. Ive just been frustrated because lately its been one thing after another, bot with the car, life and work.... luckily I have a little vacation coming up... I NEED it
