Do I need a racing seat harness??
I was thinking about putting racing seats in, and Im guessing that I can use the stock seatbelt, right??
If I were to go to a harness I need a rollcage to strap them too, right??
thanks

You should be able to use the factory 3pnt with most racing seats, and if you go to a harness it depends, Schroth is the only company that makes DOT approved harnesses, some mount to a roll cage, some don't. With most other companies the harness mounts to a roll cage.

With those seats you have to get the belt through the lap part, so no, stock seatbelts won't work. As for not mounting to a roll cage, Scroth has several harnesses that mount to the front lap belt position, and the rear tail straps mount either to the rear lap belt anchor points or to the rear shoulder belt c pillar anchor(if the car has them). That requires the use of a seat that has a reinforced back though and that can properly locate the shoulder straps. Why are you looking at straight back seats, why not recliners?

If you want a harness, Schroth's DOT series harnesses work with many factory seats, IE they've been tested in crash sleds with factory seats, including those for many Mustangs. Otherwise, you could just keep what you have. A sport seat will hold you in place better, and there's nothing wrong with a fixed back seat depending on your size and how much you slouch! Fixed back seats can be VERY comfy, but you have to sit up straight in them.

Well, I was thinking about racing seats, but I will need a rollbar to put the harness to right? So maybe later down the road Ill consider racing seats again, but I gueesss Ill just stick to factory seats and seatbelts for now.
