Default 5.0 purchasing

What should I look for in purchasing a 89-92 5 liter? Are their any tell-tale signs of problems? Im used to 2.3liters which have a few tell-tale signs of problems. Thanks!

always a few things to look at. some are....

trunk/hatch - underneath the lip will be prone to rust, some will be through, but you won't see it from outside

seat tracks - they tend to break, and you'll see them(drivers side usually) lean towards the center of the car

power locks/windows - try ALL of them

1/4 window trim - they get pitted and crappy looking.. they are $700 each IF you can find can, and have been discontinued for over 10 years... they make replacements one at 50resto.com , but DON'T say "mustang" on them $500 a pair i think

heater core - make sure it's not bypassed and the heat works, it's an $800 job for a new heater core

steel behind the license plate - i've seen major there as well

some other things...

stay away from AOD cars, they are expensive and VERY prone to breakage, also close to 1 full second slower in the 1/4 mile (i have owned plenty .. so i know what i'm talking about... to whoever gets their panties in a bunch from this)

other things in general....

pass on red interior.. you'll hate it and have to swap it later

look for anally clean engine compartments, that seem to have been that way for a while.. it's a good indicator of how they kept the car b4 selling it

also how the house looks... people who live trashy trash their cars typically.

good luck !

i can't think of anything else major
