Default Is it worth it?

Alright 5.0 enthusiasts... I need some help to get me off the fence on my latest project.

I recently purchased a 89 GT with a Vortech SC, edelbrock aluminum heads, 75mm TB, intake, underdrive pulley kit, FlowMaster exhaust, MSD dial-in ignition etc... This thing rips! The best part is that I bought it for $1500 and only had to throw a new tank, fuel pump, and sending unit because it had been sitting for so long and had rust in fuel tank.

I'm thinking of building it into a 93 cobra R replica with Cervini body kit, hood, R 17x9 wheels and tires, and new seats. All the window seals/trim/belts are shot (dryrotted) as well as the rear quarter glass rubber. The interior was infested with mice and will need new carpet, seats, and a few misc parts like armrests and whatnot. The body is 100% clean and just needs very little prep before paint.

I'm thinking I will have 7000 into it by the time I'm done and was wondering if this is worth it based on resale? Anyone know what something like this would be worth if done properly? Thoughts and suggestions?

Are the GT ground effects easy to sell? I would be looking at getting rid of those if they were worth anything, as well as the FlowMaster exhaust since I would have to replace with the LX/Cobra style with stainless tips.

you would be better off just parting out the charger and some other stuff, returning it to stokc and selling it from there... You wont see the money out of it when you are done!

+1 to kweb's post. You wont come out on top. Iv gotta say that sounds like an awesome deal but you should definitly part out some of that stuff or maybe even do some swaps for stock stuff.

95% of the time mods dont pay off and should be done for personal enjoyment. if you just trying to make money id say fix up the interior as best you can without dumping a ton of money into it, get a semi-cheap but decent looking paint job and sell it as h/i/sc gt.

Thanks for all the info... You have basically confirmed what I thought! The car is super clean so I'll probably just get it buffed out and throw some new wheels and tires on it and fix the interior. It runs great and goes like a bat our of hell so I'll probably keep everything the way it is. I noticed they aren't worth much so it would be stupid to throw a bunch of money into this project.

Thanks for all the input!
