Default Quick N/A question

would swapping some gt40 heads and a trickflow track heat intake mani be a good idea while keeping the stock cam? (i hear stock cam was not bad at all) and what gains would the heads and intake have on a 94gt with mac Lt's, mac o/r h pipe and mac catback, 3.73's, upper & lower Control arms and K&N cai? with maybe a 100 shot and mt et streets.

The stock cam really is not that bad. When I did my Trickflow heads and GT-40 intake I kept the stock cam in. I loved it. It really made good low end power/torque. However, the power would quickly die off past 5000rpm. When I threw in my TFS-1 cam, the low end torque was gone, but the car would rev to the moon. With tuning and the TFS-1 cam I gained 27 horsepower and 21 rwtrq. The choice is yours. Plus with the TFS-1 cam my mpg dropped by 2(from 16 to 14). One thing to note: A guy on this forum made 454hp/449rwtrq while still retaining the stock cam. He was blown.

My guess would be around 255rwhp and 285rwtq. I made 244rwhp and 290rwtrq with the Trickflow heads, stock cam, GT-40 intake and bolton's. This was also through an automatic transmission. You should be able to run mid 13s@102 N/A pretty consistently. it should be a pretty fun street car.

my buddies '92 went 11.80's w/ that combo

pretty much exactly that combo, 125 shot, 4.10's, gt40 irons mild port, box stock gt40 tubular, and thats about it

w/ the weight and gears you have... i'd say 12.00-12.20

.
it's all about doing it RIGHT !!

302's NEED some exhaust porting, and i take that back.. that was on et drags and 5k launch

port and polish the exhaust, do a comp valve job, maybe blend the bowls a bit and match the intake to the heads

you'll see double the gain for 1/4 cost of the parts

1.7 rockers, 65tb, 73 or so meter, 24 lb inj, 190+ pump, 125 shot of smack, 4.10 gears, et streets, hpm mega bite jr LCA's, any good intake (i'm still prone to the old skool gt40 tubualr) cold air won't hurt, long tubes and OR, dump some weight and your good to go

my '89 notch went 12.50's on all stock motor ,4.10's ,100 shot and et streets w/ long tubes and dumped smog and AC .......13.20's on motor

don't sell your self short, don't fear the gear and put it to the ground....it'll work

how does this sound?
gt40 heads and cobra upper&lower gasket matched intake manifold $550
Mac equal length 1 5/8 Headers $230
Mac 2.5in O/R h-pipe $170
Mac Catback with 3.5in tips $330
K&N drop-in filter $60
Ford racing 4.10s with the sct tuner combo from amercian muscle $540
Fel-Pro Gaskets For Heads and Intake mani $90
ARP studs for Heads and Intake Mani $175
BBK 65mm TB $200
BBK 255lph Fuel Pump $130
http://www.americanmuscle.com/rear-c...-kit-7998.html << are these any good?
Also doing a rear seat delete and taking out the spare tire and jack to drop some weight.
Total: comes to about 3k without nitrous or tires. am i missing anything? or is there a cheaper way to do this?

Everything looks fine. However, the gears will be a pain to do. You might want to take it to the shop(It's the only mod that I had a shop do). I would also use unequal length shorties. Equal lengths are a pain and not worth the effort over the unequal lengths. Plus they are cheaper. I would also buy underdrive pulleys. You can get them on Summit for well under $100. They slow the accessory drive and free up extra power. Everything else looks good. Have fun!

considering how cheap cams are I would definitely throw one in there while you have everything else apart for the extra power gain...
