I lost 2 mpg by installing a cam. I used the Trickflow Stg-1. It's a great cam. It sounds good, makes good power and is cheap. But you will trade low rpm torque for high rpm, horsepower. It's your call....

Yeah kind of a tough call for a daily driver, the best thing to do about gas mileage is just not check it lol. Seriously though are you worried that much about it even after doing all these other mods?

well i dont see it being necessary. the car will only see track time maybe twice a month. i think the 100 shot would compensate for the cam

the only other mod i think would hurt mpg are the gears right? the h/i swap wont hurt them since its allowing the car to breath better?

That's a great point that someone MIGHT assume. Yes, the heads and intake will increase airflow. But in order to support the new airflow, the motor will need to use more fuel, which in turn uses more gas. I neither lost nor gained mpg by having the H/I(I take that back, I gained about 1mpg). In theory gears will not waste gas mileage. In fact they should improve it. With the stock gears, you need more throttle to get into your powerband. But with gears, you use less throttle to get there, as the gears "multiply your torque" output. But with the gears, you will want to get on the throttle all the time. So all that gas saving goes to waste. If you do a lot of freeway driving and have 4.10 gears, then mpg will suffer because you will be at a higher rpm for cruising. I hope this makes sense.

Yeah gears can help MPG around town but will pretty much always kill your highway mph. Also I agree with NoGo, the more air your engine takes the more fuel that will be needed to keep proper a/f ratio.

And yes obviously a 100 shot will more than compensate for a cam, but both would be even better.

ah it makes sense. i don't do alot of highway driving at all so im not worried to much about the gears. and as for the cam+100 shot i'm sure it would be awsome. i just dont want to get into it just yet if that makes sense. but thanks for the info onyx and nogo you guys are really helpful
