Default A really stupid question

I feel like a moron asking this, but how are the cylinders labeled on our cars? I know passenger side farthest to the front is number 1 but does it go 1357 down the passenger side and 2468 down the drivers or is it 1234 down the passenger side and 5678 down the drivers side.

Flame away, but I need verification.

1234 down the passenger and 5678 down the driver side, front passenger cylinder is #1.
