Default engine questions

Hey guys I may have excessive bearing clearance since Iam hearing a ticking type noise and the oil pressure gets low at idle.so I'm going to pull the engine and was wondering if I have to remove the upper intake to pull the engine.out and also was wondering how hard would it be to pull engine and trans together.the trans need a rebuild as well.also other than the main bearings what else do I have to replace?I'm on a budget so trying to watch thanks

Cam bearings, freeze plugs, get machine shop to check crank.

Define low oil pressure at idle.

you can pull the whole thing at once, but either way the intake will eventually have to come off so do it now or later

Thanks!

Well by low oil pressure on the factory guage the pressure drops down the to the line on N on the normal sweep.I'm also hearing this ticking type noise mainly on the passenger side of the engine.in traffic I can hear it faintly and in my driveway I hear it bounce off the house.I asked someone and excessive bearing clearance was what they told me.the oil is brand new I put synthetic 5w-30 now I would love to hear something else if anyone has ideas

Ticking sounds could be a lot of things, including exhaust leaks. Put a gauge on it and actually see what the oil pressure is. You only need about 10psi at idle. Don't go tearing an engine apart when there might not be anything wrong with it.

Ticking or knocking? If you find a good machine shop, you can have it rebuilt for cheap! I just had mine done for $400, with resurfaced flywheel.

Well today I put my ear a bit closer since I didn't have any hose or a stethoscope and it almost sounds like it is coming from the passenger side of the engine maybe the egr or fuel injectors so now tomorow I'm going to get a new oil pressure sending unit and get with someone I know for a oil pressure guage the more I'm checking into it I'm not convinced about the bearings so hopefully my dummy guage is being stupid thanks guys ill let yall know what happens

run a mech test to verify gauge accuracy
