If I had a vert, I'd be yanking that 5.0 out and putting a 351 in there instead. The extra torque will help. Just what I would do.. and I bought my roller 351 complete for $350 with low(er) miles on it.

I don't see the point in spending so much money on such a mild setup. By the time you do all the port work and buy the GT40's, you'de have been better offer buying a set of AFR's or Trickflows for equal to, or a little more cash. If you have to - go buy a used set of heads to curb costs, as long as you know what you're looking at.

.. and I'd get a better fuel pump than that if you were going to bother buying a new one for future growing without issues.

I think some of you may have the wrong idea about what I'm trying to do here..

I'm trying to get a little bit more power (50-85 horsepower) and that's about it. I don't care how fast it gets me on the track because it'll never be anything other than a heavy, slow, un-aerodynamic convertible.

My goals for this project:

-Better looks (paint/suspension)
-A bit more power
-A bit more response on the throttle (current torque isn't all bad, but more is always nice)

I would assume that dumping a 351 into my car would cost a lot of money and would take a lot of time. I've also never done any work that extensive, so the odds of it working out well are..not good.

..And what would be my best option for finding a working 351 for a decent price?

I see them on craigslist all the time, but you need to be careful doing that (like with everything).

more torque = good results on the street.

^--- was going to say that, but figured you'de get it. Many places around here offer warranties for their motors.

Ow. Looks like I may have to find a cheaper paint job. My performance upgrades are adding up fast..

Already purchased:

-Trickflow SN95 Elbow Adapter $51.00
-Mustang Bullitt 5spd Manual Foot Pedals $59.90
-94-98 Ford Mustang EURO Clear Corners $32.90
-Makoto 94-98 Ford Mustang Euro Clear Cobra Look Headlights $74.98
-Team Z (Strange Engineering) Front Coilover Package (14-150 springs) $445.00
-Maximum Motorsports Caster/Camber Plates $187.99
-Strange Engineering Adjustable Shocks $138.00
-H&R Supersport Rear Springs $127.59

Planned:

-Ford GT40P pair from Tri-State Cylinder Head, Inc. $676.66
-Ford Racing Hi-Flow Ceramic Coated Shorty Headers $359.95
-GT40P heads & Intake from my friend's Mountaineer (I'll be selling the heads) $200.00
-Comp Cams 35-328-8 $239.75

Total: $2,593.72

And that doesn't include the fuel pump, gears, a new midpipe, or any other misc items. Bleh.

Hmmm, looks like your parts are adding up quickly. Maybe I'd forgo the N/A stuff and head right to the goods: a used supercharger. I saw a used Powerdyne go for $1200 a few weeks back! http://forums.corral.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=273 or http://forums.corral.net/forums/show....php?t=1161045 I bought my Vortech from this forum.
