1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

So then this would be mine?

Is that possible that my distributor cap is shifted one step to the right?

This would explain that the 5th plug was connected to the "number one" mark.

What do U guys think?

Mickey Mouse poor Mustang?!

No your cap can not shift because it lines up on a set of tabs. What does the cap and rotor look like? You didn't say anything about replacing those. Put the old wires back on and see if the problem is still there.

I can do that and Yes Sir! probably I will but like I stated before the first time it was starting but the idle was very-very low! Meaning the wires were fine (I guess). Or at least it was good enough to fire up the engine!

Meaning the setup You showed me should work?! Right?!
But then what's the problem?
I try again right now!!!!!! I just can get it why?!

I tried and I tried! Nothing, none of the above, none of all the things we talked!
If anybody knows someone in Los Angeles who can fix it, I'm up for it because I've lost my hopes.

THX anyways, guys!
Or if You guys can tell me how to filter out the problem I would appreciate that big time!
But I don't want to put back the old wires since I know for a fact that it worked with the new one as well right after I switched it!
I started the car two different times with the new set of wires with no problem what so ever.

I have a gray distributor cap with the words on the top: "MADE IN THE USA" That's it. And a big number one: 1

Question! When You take off the top of the distribution cap is it important where that piece inside is facing??

Thank You again!

ive definitly already figured out AND given you the solution to your problem.

If the #5 wire WAS where the #1 wire is SUPPOSED to be.. some ******* had your distributor out of the engine... You must follow my "How to stab your distributor" thread. Once you get the distributor back in the block and lined up CORRECTLY, you can go ahead and put the wires back on

Yepp! Mickey Mouse right there!
I hooked it up with the 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8. But shifted the hole thing so on the #5 plug is on the #1 mark on the distribution cap! (#4 plug on 5, #2 on 4, and so on and so on)

IT WORKED! No gas from the tail-pipe! Perfect. A little hesitation, lower idle but ok.

So here's my other question:
If it worked like this then I guess it won't work with this order, right!?
1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8 ?

Now all I have to do is to stab it the way it suppose to be and we're in business!!

A Good day for me!

Then how can I find that out for sure!?
All I know is that someone changed the carburator on the car already.
I got an Edelbrock 4 BBL

Any other things what I should look for to determine what kind of "power-house" I got!?

Sorry for all these questions, I'm a newbie for these cars but willing to learn everything!!!

if it runs like that now, whoever installed it missed by a tooth or two. now that you have it corrected, if you re-stab the dizzy, its gonna need the plugs rewired again the correct way.
