Default TIMING GEAR ?

my motor is now a MAF and im building a 347 stroker and i was wonderin about gear drive timing, can you get a noisy gear drive timing for a computer controlled engine with a knock senser?

you don't have a knock sensor on your ride, and as for the gear drive, ditch the idea..it's a waste on street/strip rides, a good coyles double roller or rollmaster timing set is all you need

hey thanks for the info i will definately do that and i wasnt sure if i had a knock sensor or not ive been around the foxes my hole like but just finally bought one of my own and had never built a efi engine and i was why is the gear drive a waste of time? just so i can get a little more knowlegde. Thanks

88GT; gear drive is just simply 'overkill' for you. It will just whine and not really make any more power than a good timing chain set will.
There is also a sort of thought that gear drives transfer harmonics from the crank to the cam causing funny wear on bearings, IDK all about that.......

not just that but they sound like sh*t!! my budy had a gear drive on his 460 and it made the car sound like a junker

gear drives are basically useless on cars that don't see 12,000 rpm or higher. Chains become unreliable at this point, thats where gears come in.
