Default Front Coilover question?

OK, I have a set of Strange struts with a UPR coilover set up...It seams like I cannot adjust the height due to the inside treads do not turn in the cylinder since the they are set to the lowest setting. This seems to be the only set up without the 2 rings that you loosen and adjust? There is a Alan screw you take out before adjusting nut when you grab hold of the spring and inside threaded tube the only thing that turns is the spring? Here is a picture link...Any shead any light in this pain in the A** http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...Mustang025.jpg

Link no good, not sure I follow what you're saying. You don't have an adjusting ring and a lock ring? Just one ring that is adjusted and then tightened by the allen screw. Is that correct? Even still, you should be able to gain height by raising the ring up on the adjusting tube. Here's mine

Pro, UPR makes a kit but it does not have the 2 rings that I see on your set up...It's one blue aluminum tube as the base with a alan screw...Here is a good link http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o...Mustang025.jpg

What do you have yours set at?

Lemmie help ya w/ the pic

I'm not sure what you mean by what do I have mine set at? Do you mean ride height? If so, I think the blottom edge of the top of my wheel well is 27" from the ground. Mines a lil high b/c of the intercooler underneath.

So you just want to know how to adjust them? I assume you turn the collar to the desired height and tighten the allen screw. Set the car down and see where you are and go from there. Is that what you're asking?

Why didn't you buy the Strange coil overs?

Yes, they are all away to the lowest position, so my thinking is that the guy who owned the car before me had them at that position so long that they are stuck? I took out the alan screw and tried to adjust but just the spring turned, not the tube. From the bottom of the housing to the to of the threads measures 5" That is 5" of usable adjustment. I shot some W-D40 to see if that would work? Your thoughts and if I do get then to adjustment do you recommend? The fronts will be coming off the ground this weekend however, not at this height. Not enough clearance.

OK, the tube is NOT supposed to turn. Take a pair of channel locks and get a good grip on the adjusting collar and see if you can turn it.

That is the million dollar question, there is no collar, well one entire piece, I think the threads adjust inside of the collar and they are locked? If you take a close look at that pic I sent of that other set up you can see the bottom half of the coilover body is one entire piece with a Alan screw in the base. I might take a vise grip and tape the teeth and grab hold of the threaded post and try to unlock it?
