Unhappy figured out my performance issue

ok so i did some stuff, new wires(i burned the old set on accident that i didnt see before) reset my valves, this time they were done perfectly. checked some other stuff, restabbed dizzy, set timing.

take it out and she ran just like she did before, very strong pulls all the way up to ~100ish mph before i was satisfied that it was back to normal.

for shytes n giggles i did a compression test on the cylinders because thats the only thing i had not done yet.
1- 0psi (didnt even flick the gauge)
2- 180
3- 175
4- 180
5- 177-9(it was close to 180)
6- 175
7- 180
8- 171-3(somewhere in there, not quite 175)

i could feel air rush past my finger in the spark plug hole, but it would not make compression.

so i took off my valve cover, take off all the rocker arms and lay a straight edge across the valve stems. my number 1 cylinder's intake valve is hung open. by about 1/16 to 1/8th of an inch(hard to measure at such an awkward angle.)

anyways, needless to say i gotta tear this bitch apart, call my guy and have him fix the issue....i think the guides are too tight and it hung up the valve...i wont know until i get the head off. i have everything tore down to the head, im waiting to take it apart after i talk to the guy to see if he'll fix it for free if its a machinist error and maybe if he feels nice, provide me with some gaskets free.

also just to add which makes me feel slightly better. this\/\/\/ was done on 7 cylinders plus some rockers that came loose mid pull

doesn't matter if he'll fix it for free, it still needs to be fixed so get back out there and pull the head...no need to wait

lol, do you think he will considering its a machinist error? just as a guess, do you think im correct with the diagnosis?

also just out of curiosity, do you think it will make a huge/drastic difference from that video to when its fixed and running on all 8?

it'll make a difference when fixed, take the spring off with the head still on, run some rope in the cyl and once spring is off see if valve is stuck tight

no, it'll cycle through just fine....but it wont come all the way closed. it stops at one point.

i thoroughly inspected these heads when i picked them up as well as when i got them back...they were all the way closed on all cylinders...

there might be a burr in the guide or on the stem or bent valve

if its bent...that would to have had to happen somewhere between the factory to being installed, right? because this thing was never fired until after PTV was verified which its not even freakin close to the piston. so im pretty sure its nothin i did that this issue occurred.

dont machinist verify before install that all the parts look/are kosher before they put their name on the line due to some fluke from the factory? im just curious, i dont know how that whole thing works at the shop. i know i visually inspect everything i get from anywhere before its used.

i hope its just a burr and easily fixed

not necessarily, if the valve hung in the guide and was held open when it should of been closed it could of tapped the valve...but this is all speculation until you pull it so go get back to work and stop this speculation

hopefully its something real simple and you didn't toast the cylinder.
