Default different crankshaft metals

I bought a TKO 600 so I need my engine rebalanced. Right now I have a used Mountaineer crankshaft that I had reconditioned. I want to give the machine shop a new crankshaft instead of this one because I plan on supercharging and I want to make sure that the bottom end is solid. Would a cast steel Crankshaft be adequate? I have been reading on forged steel crankshafts and they seem like overkill. Also, I am not sure what the Mountaineer crankshaft is made up of so if anyone knows , I would appreciate it.

a motor isn't rebalanced cause you buy a new tranny, and no need for a crank that'll out live a stock block , cause what's worse when the motor lets go, losing a 200 dollar crank or a 1000.00 dollar one??? exactly!!

Yeah, block will fail before a stock crank even. And yeah, why are you rebalancing the engine?

I'm not going to re balance it because of the transmission, I'm going to re balance because I am using a different flywheel. It is an auto to man conversion. I can definitely see your point on the crankshaft. Do you happen to know what this stock crank is made up of?

You don't have to rebalance the crank when you do the auto to man conversion either there buddy.

I had the engine balanced before. It was bored to 306 because I had some scoring in a couple of cylinders. I have sealed power forged pistons and forged eagle rods. Block is in great shape according to the machine shop. No cracks, or anything. That's why I want to make sure that I have a crank that will last if I supercharge.
