I'm not sure.. like all of the floor pans were coated in this black mat rubberized stuff... it looked like a rust preventative and it worked amazingly in the spots it was... or a sound dampener.. but i have no idea... it looked like original ford material, i have been ripping this stuff up for the past day... it was really really sticky, it was stuck to the floor pans... and underneath where i ripped it up, the pans literally look brand new. The actual foward pans are rotted extremely bad though -_- but i'll be fixing that.

HERE WE GO!!!

IT was UNDER all of that stuff... thats exactly what my car had in the pans and back hatch area... They were actual plugs too... thats what puzzles me though, why the heck are they wooden?!??!!! I now have 2 of these fine pieces of work.

By the way 5.0 Stanger i got that picture off your paint thread... i remembered seeing the same black material i was talking about. They are huge sections of stuff, not just that little sliver i had in the picture, cause i already ripped up the rest of it, and had thrown it away.

I'm pretty much positive this was a ford mod... don't know why?!

Keep dirt out, but allow moisture to drain out from the inside thru the wood I guess.

never thought about that... but then again the wood would hold water for awhile and i would think it would actually create a big problem as well. who knows lol... i thought it was pretty comical though.

The wood can't be ford's doing. Look's like someone was under the car and see a hole and pluged it that way. The black stuff is the stock sound deadening though. Looks like I had it easy when it came to that stuff. Mine came up without any tools lol, just picked it off in huges chunks by hand.

haha thats what i don't get though, none of the others were... and both sides where i found them were in the same spot... and they did it from the top... it filled the entire hole... not just a small plug, it was like nickel sized and had a little nipple in the center of it.
