a proper intro - new stang
well i joined like 3 years ago when i was gonna get a fox body with the 302. well i ended up buying my parents sebring, fixing it up and selling it and bought a stock 99 jeep cherokee 2 door. well that didnt stay stock long. fixed some minor issues, lifted it up, threw on some bigger tires and did many more mods and replaced parts i broke wheeling. after owning at and daily driving it for over 2 years, 9mpg was killing me and the jeep wasnt legal for the road anyways (bumper height to high, tires stick out to far, exhaust, roof lights without covers, cops dont care to much but rather not risk a ticket)
i know its kind of the reverse order of things, buying the toy then the daily driver, but it was gonna get only minor mods, but it turned into an addiction. anyways, on the lookout for a dd i came across a 1990 stang lx with a 4 banger for $1200..well i took a look and it ran and drove great! some rust, passengers side has a hole in the floor and the rocker is gone, e-brake ofcourse is shot, 87k original miles, got him down to $1000 and bought it today!
brought it home, ziptied up the broken e-brake mount (was rubbing on the driveshaft), checked fluids, bought some missing bolts and put them in for the airbox, xhanged the filter, checked the distributor and both screws holding on the cap snapped in the distributor (whos idea was it to put steel screws in the aluminum body?) ended up trying to drill out the screws, ended up drilling into the distributor body but its fine, new screws and it holds down just fine. i think it may have been the orginal distributor cap and rotor, the contacts were full of corrosion and so was the rotor. makes me worried about changing the plugs.
so i have a couple more questions..
what prevenatives should i take when changing the plugs so i dont tear out the threads? is it a common problem?
do they sell replacement rockers to just weld on? if so, where?
my shocks in the front are gone. rides like crap. i know its a mcfereson strut (spelling?) so im not messing with the rebuild, wheres the best place to get new shocks? any idea what its gonna run to do it all? am i better off taking it to a shop all together and forget taking it out at home? i have the basics for tools..but ive heard and seen horror stories with the widow maker suspensions..
well, sorry for the long intro, im new to these cars. its a slow car but i drove all over town today, mall twice, hardware store, casino, airport with the gf to watch planes and home and maybe burnt an 1/8th of a tank..that wouldve been like a whole tank in the jeep haha
thanks in advance!

thanks everyone!
?? mine has a 2.3 and the questions are relating to the suspension so idk..
heres some pics as promised
day i brought it home

today

tried some mirror glaze on the paint, cleans up pretty good!

edit and the puddle under the car is coolant..radiator is shot and the hose that connects the overflow bottle to the radiator is broke off so need a new radiator. put in coolant and when i shut it off and the coolant expanded..it all came out that hole. gonna make a junkyard run soon.

the struts are about 50-70$ each a good thing about these mustangs the struts dont have the springs on them so its a bolt in operation..... easily done with some skill i assume you have some tinkering with your jeep...
heres a pic of what im talking about

the plugs will be easy the head isnt alum so you shouldnt have any problems with it pulling out the threads which can happen if anti seize compound isnt used..
for finding part www.50resto.com http://www.foxresto.com/ for used stuff www.mpsautosalvage.com
