Default speedo bounce

I have a 1993 GT and the speedo bounces, I know this is a simple question but can anyone give one tell me how it can be fixed the simple way.

you might be able to get away with putting a new cable on it.but mine does it to and its the speedo itself.

99% of the time when a speedo bounces its because either one of the two gears at the end of the cable, inside the transmission, is stripped.

if it's not a cable issue it often is the head unit itself

Pull the speedometer gear of of the trans and see if it spills nice and free. You should be able to spin it with two broken fingers no prob. If it has any binding or clunky feel, the cable is probably f'ed. I swapped my speedo gear this summer, and the cable was a hair too long. Once I CAREFULLY snipped a bit off, she spun free, and no more bounce Check er' out and let us know what you find.

either the cable needs a lubrication, the gauge itself needs to be recalibrated or the cable/ speedo gears are chewed up.

mine bounces a little around 20-30mph, nothing huge... then it bounces a bit between 90-100mph (hehe)

speed sensor at the end of the cable that goes into the trans is most likely broken
