^^^^^you can also boost the snot out of a stock long block and with a few bolt ons hit the mark too.....as xballer stated there are many ways to do it, just depends on what you want, I went custom cam and eddy rpm heads with the small 1.90/1.60 valves and ported upper and lower cobra intake as well as all the normal bolt ons and this thing screams, I'd be suprised if it's not close to the 300 rwhp mark already

muti post yes i know mybad
400 AT THE CRANK??? worry about what hits the pavement as all you'd need to hit that mark is a good h/c/i and a dyno tune which will equate to a little over 300 rwhp.......12-14 psi will not blow the block, ask PRO50SC he has 375 rwhp on a stock long block with a few bolt ons and 12-14 psi and his block has 160k, fuel system and a tune will be key
with my current setup of couse with the the added charger@12psi+

SO you'll be using a stock intake and cam??? if so with just adding heads, you should come close to 400 rwhp easy, but I'd at least add an intake to complement the heads, stock cam should allow you to make enough steam

If you haven't chosen the heads yet, I would go with Trickflows. They've been really good on plenty of Fords, and I've actually got a set on my 383 SBC in the Camaro. The finish on them is usually top notch as well. Just my opinion, though.

the intake to be up gradded also
if i were to go with the boosted up setup...then ill do some fuel upgrades ...i dont want to be running lean

ugh, I HATE when people come in here with NO IDEA what they want. And just spit out combo after combo afte combo
If you want 400 at the crank, that is easy, and can pass emissions pretty damn easy.
If you want 400 at the wheels then I would go with a 351 punched out to a 408. In my state it is legal to do a engine swap and pass emissions as long as the engine you are swaping into the car is newer.
I advise you read A LOT more before you start spending money, and figure out what YOU want out of the car better.
