Default 5.0L engine question...please help

Hello,
I am about to purchase a beautiful 1991 GT convertible. It has 20k miles and looks great. One lingering problem/question. Why would the engine badge be missing? Usually there is a plate on top of the engine that says "5.0 HO".
Should I be concerned that a different engine was dropped into the car? Is this a common thing? Is it easy to buy another one?
Please advise.
Thanks in advance,
Doc

Someone just took it off, no telling why. It is entirely possible that another engine was dropped in. Without knowing the history of the car no one can give you a straight answer. The plates are very easy to find.

Is it missing as in just the plate is gone or like it's a different manifold and there's not a place for it to be mounted?

Default just missing

Just the plate is gone. All I need is to purchase another one.

This car is so sweet . Triple black with leather interior. Interior is a 9.5/10, trunk is a 10/10, top is flawless. 20,360 miles. I am so excited to buy it. I have a bill of sale and left a 5% deposit. I am picking it up next week.
It needs a full detail and I think it will be close to perfection. Once I buy it and have it detailed I will post the pictures.

The owner is the 2nd owner and has but 3k miles on it in the past 6 years. He said the engine came like this from the previous owner. The carfax is clean and all the vin numbers match. I was just concerned that the engine had a vin number and it was located on the plate. I guess this is not the case.

Did I mention how pumped I am to buy this car? I had a 1991 red Gt hatchback from 91-97. I loved it. I am going to join the local mustang club and show this baby at car shows. Its hard to find a stock fox mustang like this one.

If you want the car to be fast you'll be replacing the intake manifold anyway so i wouldn't worry about it.

Not too inflated. Definitely worth the price. I can imagine what it is going to be worth in 10 years! All stock and it will be well taken care of.

I am keeping it stock. It is fast enough. I want it to hold its value. This baby is going to live the easy life.
