Default b303 cam, 1.7rr's, ported E7's...

like the title says, i have a b303 cam, crane 1.7 rr's, and home ported E7 heads, stock 88 bottom.. im gathering all the parts to install this spring, and my question is what length pushrod can i use with this setup? i know i should use a pushrod length checker and order accordingly, but i dont have that luxury seeing as this is my dd. ill be using pedistle shims to adjust, i just need to know if stock pushrods will be long enough or what length i need. thanks for any help guys.

adjustable push rod is the only correct way to do it.

you obviously donb't understand the importance, better yet necessity to measure for push rod length.....it's not a suggested/optional check my friend.......it's a vital/ necessity to make sure valvetrain geometry is on the money or cause more damage for being to cheap to by a 15 dollar checker, cause a 15 dollar ommission will turn into a 1500.00 dollar mistake.......no ifs ands or buts, PUSH ROD LENGTH must be measured for/checked..........but if what you wanna hear is stock will work fine....try it but shimming isn't for obtaining proper placement on the valve tip, it's for obtaining proper preload....you did know that right??

Explain why???......tolerances/ variances from one motor to the next are never exact, expecially when using performance parts.

+1, it's a $15 tool to make sure you get the right length push rods. No brainer if you're buying pushrods anyway. It's worth the extra 1/2 hour worth of work.

makes perfect sense. i dont claim to be some "all knowing mechanic" other wise i wouldnt be here. thanks for the help. i have the length checker, i just cant afford taking off work for a few days while my car is down waiting on pushrods. i suppose i find some way to make it work.

since you're not installing everything until spring I'd suggest saving some money for some better heads.
