It would be really difficult to get 400hp out of a 302 w/out a lot of compression and a lot of revs.

I'd guess a streetable setup with a nice CI cam would make just north of 350hp at the motor.

you might make 300rwhp.

as for the clutch, i had a SPEC stage2+ kit and loved it. not too bad for a DD and never let go, even with my 357W.

With the right suspension, weight, driver and tune, those numbers are possible.

I had my old 306 on an engine, not chassis dyno about 4 years ago.
It made 410HP @ 5700+ RPM.
I was using TFS heads ported out to 195cc on intakes. Compression was 10.8
Hydraulic roller cam .574I and .585E.
750 homemade Holley type carb, Vic jr. intake.
Made 2840 '84 Mustang go 12.02 @ 113 at 5000' air density here in the Arizona desert.
Drive tires were Mickey Thompson 325X15 street radials, never could get them to hook real good. 4:10 gear BTW.
Just to give you an idea of what it takes to make 400+HP
I was using a C-4 with a 3500 converter.
Think I may have been 340-350 RWHP.
That engine is in motor heaven by the way, didn't last very long.........

If your getting a rebuilt 302, have them go .030 to get a 306. It might already be .030 over
