Default Which heads TFS of AFR's NEED HELP?

OK the run down motor- 302 0.30 over, stock crank, TRW flat top pistons (9.5 to 1 or 9.0 to 1 ) I think don't remember exactly but some where in the 9 range, E-303 cam, MSD digital 6, mechanical advance dist, gt40 heads, 1.6 rockers, victor jr intake and 750 holley double pumper, C-4 trans with 10 inch TCI converter. I'm planning on getting some heads and maybe a bit bigger cam (just a thought on the cam). I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with both heads and piston to valve clearance? With twisted wedge how big of a cam can you run? I've read that the TFS heads will maybe have some problems with clearance. So anyone know whats safe?

go with 190cc TW fast as cast heads and a custom cam, never look back.

contact jay allen and he'll hook you up with both so they are matched properly and hold on to your britches.

From what i have read and heard you can port the trickflows out further, and afr heads are kinda maxed out out of the box.

Talk to woody over at fordstrokers for some information, very knowledgable guy

yea, well the fast as cast heads are almost identical to cnc'd heads and have a bigger cross section. its more like a 205 than a 190. very good heads. plus have tons of room to grow later if you need it.

With a 306 you could go AFR 185's cause im sure your aftermarket pistons are notched for the 2.02's

I remember that the pistons had a little relief cut in them but not much. It was just a little nick in the top of the piston but not like the ones i've saw on those big dog motors. More along the lines of the eyebrow reliefs i believe i've heard them called. I was just wondering if I could get away with a little bigger head than the 165's?

$1400 + 400 on a stock shortblock and see what happens.

BTW, are you following Russel's NA build? going for a bit of a screamer eh?

One of the benefits (among others) of the TW head design, is the additional "valves free drop" it provides due to their valve angles allowing for more PtV clearance than the regular inline valve heads (stock, Vic. Jr. AFR, etc). Unless you install a camshaft with huge overlap figure, they will clear. This does not mean it shouldn't be checked though.

If you decide to go with a matched TFS 170 or 190 FAC and matched custom cam, the heads are fitted (based on my experience BTW) with the correct valve springs for the cam. You can send an inquiry at jay@camshaftinnovations.com or check the site at http://www.camshaftinnovations.com/. Based on the information you provided and if you decide for the TW 190's....... you will be surprised at the resultant cam design that will net you the best results.

For that 306 I would say the TFS 170's would be a good way to go.
IMO, 190 sounds a bit large for a 306 to have any bottom end to it.......
