you dont have to lock your timing.

Say you set your base timing at 16*, just back it of 2-4*, so set it to 12-14* base and put your spout back in. make sure your running premium fuel, and got your plugs gapped right.

I run between .35-.40 gap. Start with .40 for the smaller shots.

Sweet,so the alternator showed up today....GANGSTER....looks so bad ***,its powdercoated flat black...looks good,302army,lemme know if you want the name of the dude I got it off of,he was awesome.Iam gonna put it on Sunday I think.Oh I did a little research on the locking out of the timing deal, and it seemed alot of people do it with nitrous, including my friend who has an 8 sec. true street car(I know he is in a little different situation but he is the man with nitrous, and he said he would if it was his car)does anyone know how to go about doing it with the dizzy,I mean as far as taking the advance springs it and stuff but maybe pics??

You could remove the springs and use some thin wire to wire the weights back and then be sure to remove the vac advance line. That way whatever you set your timing at it will stay at. With the weights wired there will be no mechanical advance.

Hmmm alright, well I was on MSD's site and it says something about spinning something 180 degrees and bolting it down...and some other stuff buuuuuuuttt......I run the Summit dizzy,I cant imagine there being a whole lot of difference in a mechanicsl advance dizzy.....I could be wrong though.
