another i wanna beat this car thread....
Ok, i just bought a worn out 88 lx 5.0. the reason being is that i want to make it run 11's because i have a friend with a 408 LSX based stroker nissan 240sx. The car is a beast putting down 417 HP and 467 TQ untuned and it only weighs maybe 3000 lbs. Anyway, I have a Pontiac GTO but due it it's heavy weight 3725 lbs, it's hard to make them fast, even though they run mid 13's stock. Anyway, I want to use the lightweight of a foxbody to beat my friends nissan. I am planning on building a 347 stroker, but i am really concerned beacause my car is an automatic. Can I get into 11's with a basically stock AOD with a stall and shift kit? I also like running on the street and we get up to 170mph and i dont think a AOD can even do that kinda speed either correct? Cause my friends nissan does every bit of 170mph. So Im probably only gonna be able to race him on the track to beat him. He ran a best of 11.99 at 115.

Your going to have to put quite a bit of money into the suspension to make a fox handle at those high speeds. Low gear ratio... why not push an automatic that high.
You may smoke that stock trans with a lot of power, though.

but for what its worth, the aerodynamics are gonna keep you from going that fast... a fox is aerodynamically sound up till around 140-150... hope you have fun when you scatter your transmission down the interstate...

lol, shouldn't be hard to beat that, my full weight 347 equipped 85gt without the aid of the bottle would crack his **** all over the place and if I cracked the bottle that'd be insult to injury, you really have your work cut out for you knowing what you have to beat

that 417 is with a horrible 85 octane tune running rich as hell. trust me, his motor can be nasty with a 93 tune. Even now, he is dead even with c6 Z06 vette. I might just stick to making my gto fast. its a better car to start with. idk what i want to do
