Question DD Help, turbo, supercharged, or n/a??

I know these questions have been asked countless times and a apologize, I just don't have the time to search and browse through to find the answers myself.
Im a 19 year old Marine looking to get some more get up and go out of my 89.
At first I was leaning towards a turbo set up, but since this is my only vehicle now i need it to be reliable, i'm thinking n/a would be better. And of course im living on a tight military budget. But cost isn't a huge issue, it just means the longer i'm going to have to wait to save up the money. And i obviously want to maximize my power and minimize the cost. I don't have a real set hp/tq goal, i just want more. Lol
Now time for some questions-
-The best set up for my application?
-How many ponies could i expect?
-How much would it hurt my wallet?

It would be great to also hear some manufacture names/parts that i should utilize. I'm counting on you guys to narrow down my search and help me decide what i should do
Thanks in advance.

This is too broad to get any real answer. Everyone will have an opinion on this.

Do a budget H/C/I. Cheap and you'll enjoy it.

If I were going to do a cheap H/C/I I'd go GT40 intake, GT40 heads, TF stage 1, roller rockers(A50 springs, B50 retainers).

You'd be under $1500 for parts(Depends on what kind of deal you can find on the heads and intake.)

Don't expect some crazy *** numbers out of your 302. I hear guys all the time, oh my 5.0 is making over 500 hp blah blah. No it's not. I think most guys are happy to break 300 without going nuts.

b&g turbo. $3000 for the kit, $1500 for fuel upgrades and a tune......450rwhp on a stock motor. id pull the heads and run some quality head gaskets and arp head studs tho....thatll set you back another $200ish. itll drive like stock and milage wont be effect yet itll scream when you stomp on it.

the on3 performance turbo kit is about $1000 less then the b&g if your on a budget and dont mind running off brand parts. ive seen the on3 kit make 505rwhp on a motor that was stock other then a cobra intake manifold and tb upgrade @ 15psi

you can do a $1000 budget build with h/c/i but end up with 250-270rwhp
