Default My new Underdrive Pulley kit + Question(s)

So the guy that I recently bought my car from, offered to just give me this BBK Billet Underdrive Pulley kit that he never got around to installing. My question is this: Will installing these affect my charging system or cooling system? BBK states that it won't because they are specifically engineered, but my local Mustang shop discouraged my from installing them because of possible charging system problems. Also the kit didn't come with bolts...do I use my stock ones or..?

The stock bolts should work on the water pump pulley but the head of the bolts will rub on the side of the crank pulley. Just go to ACE Hardware and find some allen head bolts.

Don't use the alternator pulley and you should be fine.

You won't notice it(even if you used all 3). It's more of a supporting mod.

Well then motorman, define "notice".

It will make a performance difference but the problem it's small. Small as in you'll need numbers from the track or a dyno to see it. Every proper test I've seen on underdrives proves positive.

As for cooling problems. If you have a good cooling system, there is no way slowing the water pump and fan down a few percent will suddenly give you problems. If you system is partially clogged and you aggrivate it with a slower pump, maybe but then the problem is your rad, not the new pullies.

Charging, yes it will place the voltage a couple volts lower during idle, especially with accessories on but so what. You idle for what 45 seconds at a red light. It's not the end of the world. You battery will not go dead from 45 seconds of running at 11 volts. If it does your problem is not the pullies, it's your battery.

^^^ Agreed. Just install them.

So your you HAVE a set of pulleys that you got for free but instead of installing them and freeing up a few HP your going to sell them for $50 bucks so you can buy something else that you can "feel". Just to let you know, theres nothing that you are going to buy for $50 dollars thats going to give you the benefit of 'FEELING' the difference. Install the pulleys and if you are really concerned about the charging issues, like posted above just dont install the alternator pulley.

If I were you, I'd keep them and throw em on there. You have them, put them to use. And as for not feeling the added hp/tq from small bolt ons, you can't feel alot of bolt ons but you still put them on. Why? Because after 2-3 small bolt ons, you can tell a difference.

+1 for installing them.If you start having charging issues then just upgrade to a 3G alt. The times most people have problems are ones with sound systems, running the a/c and having the fog lights on type of drive. You will be fine.

When I said notice I mean he won't feel it....

+1 to installing them and what 83 said. I run them with a 3g conversion.
