But gears are a lot of fun for the price (ps while your upgrading the gears, you may want to add 31 spline axles, with something like an auburn diff, maybe a new diff cover, and all new bearings and such.... o and also have the axle tubes straightened and welded to the pumkin) = 1 strong rearend

Unless you're ready to do a power adder or a head/cam swap I'd say gears are definitely the best mod. They make a huge difference and imo should be one of the first mods.
