Default Stock suspension?

I don't have much experience with my 83 Mustang Gt and I am just wondering how good the stock suspensions are? Should i plan on investing in performance one?

If your planning on making any kind of significant power then yes. At least get some subframe connectors, upper/lower control arms, and some torque box reinforcements for the rear suspension.

ok thanks. Are those just basically for reinforcement to protect the frame?

You don't really need any suspension mods for a stock car.

Torque box reinforcements help prevent the brackets that hold the rear control arms to the body. The spot welds can potentially deteriorate... but without significant power/aftermarket control arm bushings you will be fine.

Sub frames tie the front and rear frame together and reduce body flexing.

even on a stock car, subframe connectors show a significant increas in the stiffness of the body,
And i have seen a hatch that had a basically stock engine on a really sticky tire start to tear a box... Once a box is torn, it can be very expensive to fix

+100000, the only decent thing about the suspension is the rear springs for drag racing.... other then that the control arms suck, the body is flexible, the front k member is heavy son a B*$&H

and the stock suspension makes a mustang look like a 4X4
