stroker questions
i basically just want to go the cheapest and most reliable way. whether its getting all the parts and have a mechanic put it together or getting a crate motor and having it put in. if i get a crate motor what else would i need to get. the stock tranmission probably wouldnt hold 350rwhp would it? also fuel pump, injectors things like that. im just trying to get an idea of total amount it will cost to make this car the way i want it and not blow something up in the process.
The engine from Dan will run you about $3K for the short block. Ad some nice heads and a valve train for about another $1800'ish. You'll also need matching intake, exhaust, and ignition. With the exception of the distributer, don't plan on using any stock parts; they'll just choke it down and you'll be wasting a lot of time and effort (and money).
The fuel system need small upgrade: 1255lph pump, bigger injecters and supporting hardware.
Cost is pretty variable. You can find excellent deals on used parts if you're a diligent shopper. I'v purchased some excellent heads for <$1K.
Avoid cheap parts like Pro Comp. Cheap off shore knock offs will eventually cost yuou a lot more in replacements and time. Especially if you have trouble doing the work yourself.
On that thought, don't be too afraid to assemble the engine yourself. You'll need three specialized tools: torque wrench, ring compresser, and balancer installer. I think you can get all three from Autozone for free. You'll also need a good book like, "How to Rebuild Your Small Block Ford", by Tom Monroe.

yeah i agree while researching the whole stroker thing ive seen the ford strokers site come up a lot. unfortunatly i lack tools and knowledge to assemble a motor by myself so i either need to buy everything i need and bring it to a mechanic and have it assembled or just buy a motor ready to drop in.
they did raise the prices to try and slow business down some but it didnt work...
in all honesty you cant go wrong with fordstrokers
