should my positive and negative leads tone out on a continuity test.

when i put the new battery in it smoked and now i am smelling burnt wire

 

did you hook it up backwards??

 

yes i put/hooked it up right +red -black.

 

I checked 2 other battery's and they didnt tone out. I will take the battery back tomorrow and see what they say? Every one I ask at work are puzzled too.

 

New battery could be shorted...Sometimes quality control doesn't happen.

 

Thats what I thought dumb duralast made in mexico crap. Almost killed the stang.

 

Yeah, I hate to say it,...but our Motorcraft Batteries are made there too. With all the illegals crossing the border they may not have enough workers down there to keep up.

 

ok i went to autozone and told them it was a bad battery. They tested it and said it was fine. I told him it was bad and showed him the continuity test and it toned out. Grabed a new one and did a continuity test and it didnt tone out. So i said i want that one now that you can see this isnt right. So i got a new one now. But my ignition is bad and i have to fix it now this is going to be fun.
