i cant speak for everyone but when i installed my trickflow street heat intake on my car it really woke it up

 

im not sayin you wont notice anything. just sayin there are some better investments out there that should be done first.

i saved up some money and did the hci all at once. why do the work more than once? swapping intakes is a pita.. and you have to remove it to do the heads. so while the intake is off the heads are just a few bolts away... the hardest part of a head swap is the lower intake and getting it to seal properly. granted, its all pretty easy and straight forward to begin with..

just an fyi i did my hci swap for just about $1200. shop around and find used parts and do the work yourself.

 

Thanks for all the suggestions, i'll keep looking around for some used intakes this weekend before I buy one, right now its looking like the cobra to save some money because from the comments its not looking like i'd notice much of a difference between the cobra and trick flow? As for the gears, maybe i'll do that closer to the end of the summer, it will eventually be done, just dont want to sacrifice fuel economy right now.

 

i have 3.73 gears now with about the same modes as you and i get 20mpg and 60% of my driving is city.... just saying

 

I have read some article on here that showed people with 3.73's getting better mpg than stock. I don't know how true it is, I have yet to gear my car. They say 4.10's are no good for mpg but 3.73's are fine. Even 3.55's you would see a difference and get fine mpg's. Just my 2 pennys

 

look on the corral forum classifieds they have tons of used intakes. depending on your future plans I would go track heat if you plan on doing heads and cam down the road

 

I have the same question as the one originated in this thread, I have an 89 lx 5.0 and its built up nicely, I too am trying to choose an intake.. although it seems the Trickflow is rated higher, for a higher amount.. when you open up the hood of a mustang, the cobra intake is breathtaking, so unless you intend to build a mad race car, i think its an opinionated answer, knowing that im not building a race car, but can stomp on 90 % of the " Korean Crap " and camaro's in my neck of the woods, even with an almost limitless budget, I think my choice has become the cobra intake, 300 bucks about on ebay, but like i said, I want a pretty but fast car, i think the answer is in your intent.

 

i am going with a 95 cobra intake, i have found a few for around 250 and am currently just waiting for someone to get back to me from the corral forums, heres the intake

I need to get the gaskets for the upper to lower, and lower to heads, does anyone know what gasket set i will need to get? Still waiting on that seller to respond, if he falls though theres a local one i can get for 225 thats in a little worse shape, does anyone know of any other 94/95 cobra intakes in good condition ive been searching the past two days

 

Just get A Nice Typhoon intake. Makes good power and is cheaper than both new on Ebay.
