When is it time to upgrade a fuel pump?

When is it time to upgrade a fuel pump?
Is there such thing as to big of a fuel pump? If I were to say get a 255lph pump for my n/a engine would it be to much? of course down the road i would like to stroke and some sort of forced induction so is it to big of a step to put it in now? the thread on injectors made me think of this? thanks mike
