What have you done to the car? If you keep blowing up transmissions it could be you, and not the trans.

I have heard good things about their T-5s. They are supposedly pretty good quality. However, if you want a much stronger replacement transmission for cheap, you can get tr3650s on Ebay for under one thousand dollars all day. Then all you need is a different bell-housing, clutch, and transmission cross-member or you can modify the stock one.

i have done very little to the car besides chassis work; it still has stock power. in fact i hardly drive it at all. however i have had horrible luck with t5's they keep shattering 2nd gear. i don't drive too aggressively, not enough that i should keep breaking them.

I know a guy with one built with astro performance parts. Seems to do good with 500lbs. of torque so far. He did break a shift fork but, the guy that did the installing lied to him about putting the stronger forks in and kept his good shift forks.

An upgraded T5 is quite strong, GeForce, Astro etc. Protmotion Powertrain in Fl builds some also, using GeForce gearsets I believe. However, if you keep frying second gear with stock power, then you should probably work on your shifting/clutch skills. Do you have a clutch that grabs super fast and hard? Or are you letting the clutch out really fast after you shift? Even a heavy aftermarket upgrade can break if you abuse it, and there's no sense in spending all the dough on it and breaking a high dollar trans too.

If it makes you feel better, I previously ran a Toploader and now a TKO600 in my 67, so I don't have to worry too much about abuse. But I still shift properly as there's no sense in abusing something that doesn't need it.

your definition of driving aggressively vs mine, gauranteed don't coincide with one another, if you shatter 2nd, lay off the power shifting, 2nd doesn't just shatter from driving it normal......I've run 10 sec passes on stock t-5's, it's all in how you handle them
