Default Possible fuel pump failure?

My 83 mustang gt keeps dying. I drove from College Place Wa, to Redlands Ca for school and during the trip my car would drive fine for awhile, but eventually stutters, loses power, cuts out, push the gas and nothing happens, jerks a bit and dies. It takes a few minutes but it will start up again and drive for awhile until this happens again. I think it must be the fuel pump going out because I have just replaced the coil, sparkplug wires, and had the carb tuned. Is it the pump and if so how do I replace it? Thanks for all your help this has been a real annoyance for me it took me two full days to make the drive because of this.

only way to know for sure is to test fuel pressure when its running right, versus when it dies.
