Default Shift kit?

i have a 1990 GT, and i would like to make it faster considering its an auto some people iv talked to say that a shift kit would make it rev higher and keep it from using 2 gears at once and just instantly switch over from 1,2,3 exc... i installed a 4.10 gear into the rear end and so far im loving it. it has a C4 trans and i know how to manualy shift it by starting in low 1 and then D then back to 1 which somehow becomes 2 ( idk how that **** works but it does) but would like to somewhat be able to bark tires when i floor it without doing this cause idk how bad it is on the trans... would a shift kit do this and not bark them when im driving like normal? how rough is it on the trans? and what are some good brands and price ranges for them any links?

what u describe is the "aod shuffle" so you have an aod. a c4 is a 3-speed tranny and will shift 1-2-3 without issues

if you do the shuffle.... save up $1800 cuz you smoked ur trans

the best bet is a t5 swap, 2nd best bet is lentech

http://www.lentechautomatics.com/aodhome.html

you want a 3000 stall, 4.30 gears and shift kit along with everything you can buildup to keep the trans

do that and you can maybe hang with a stock 5-speed with 2.73 gears

If you install a shift kit...well have one installed since you don't know what your talking about completely..... get the epoxy mod done so you don't have to shuffle and you can just shift 1,2,3,OD by just shifting from one selected gear to another with no shuffle. This isn't hard on the trans like the shuffle is.

The simplest way is buy a stall converter and and aftermarket vlv body and u can even the battle against a 5 speed with the same mods!

between a 3000-3500 stall and a Pa vlv body, You can buy a 5-600& torque converter or buy a dacco nitrous converter for half the price and foot brake 3200 with some decent tires on gravel road! the Pa vlv body will make you think ur drive shaft is gonna fall out when you manually shift it casue it shifts so damn hard, in drive it dosent shift hard at all!

ofcourse you have to drop the tranny for the converter but the vlv body swap can be done in the car if u do that alone! the pan bolts plus the 23 vlv body bolts and ur done! Simple bolt in stuff!

Just gotta be sure to the the shifting paw and the kickdown in the right spot when you put the valve body back in. Not hard at all!
