Default EBC v. Hawk

Hey Guys,

I'm still four-lug on my '93 GT, need a set of pads and rotors... I'm not gonna bother going with the 73mm SVO set-up.

The car is basically a stop light cruiser, maybe one day take it on the road course, and a few track passes as well.

I was wondering if a set of slotted rotors, and either hawk or ebc pads would be worth the money versus my other option.

I have used all Raybestos stuff on my other vehicles, and would get a set of their replacement stock rotors, and a "semi-performance pads" (AT something series) if I threw them on my mustang. I currently have raybestos rotors on my DD, with hawk hps pads, and really didn't notice a difference over the raybestos pads... so not that impressed with Hawk.

Any one have any experience with Hawk v. EBC (I would go with the green stuff ones). EBC's are kinda spendy at Summit for $77 a pop for a set, but if it's worth the money, I will spend it...

I may end up going five-lug in the future, so do you think just save a little and go all raybestos???

Thanks for the info

did a little search and got some info, where ppl said the ebc's were dusty/ noisy... anyone else wanna chime in on the overall situation?

anyone use both, and which did you prefer?

ebc's come with a break in coating on them, after that wears off, they are fine, mine are not noisey, nor are they dusty, at a recent tip to the track where my wife ran my 89 vert with oem pads and me with the ebc on my 85 and I was braking from 127 mph vs her 102 and her front's were all dust after we left and mine were barely noticable. have a customer who runs hawks, they are decent as well

i had a set of Hawk DT70's (maybe DTC70?)
they were great once you got a little heat in them, but were a little noisy and dusty.

but hey, you didnt buy this car to be a Lexus emulator...

I had ebc's and liked em pretty well..right up until the friction material sheared from the steel backing. By the time I got home to take it all apart the rotor were done for. I read around a bit and found it was a relatively common problem with them. Instantly dissatisfied and probably wouldn't buy again. They may have changed over the years but I'm not sure
