need help installing MAC tuned shorty headers
#11
i had to do what adder is suggesting to do.i had regular mac shorties and all bolts would go in but 1.they was kinda a pain in the *** but im glad i put them on while the motor was on a engine stand.

well i got all the bolts started and took off the hose clamps but still have to use an open-end box wrench to turn them which makes me think i wont be able to tighten them very well. i wish i could go back in time and NOT wrap the headers bc it probably would be easier. i think the pass-side will be more difficult

ok i was right, the passenger side header is more difficult. i f***ing hate these headers lol. one of the header tubes is hitting the strut tower. theres a metal line thats kind of in my way that goes from the heater core to the somewhere near the radiator. i'm thinking about putting it in from under the car. good/bad idea? anymore insight?

MAC headers suck, especially used ones. They don't have a 1 piece flange so after their initial installation they have to be tweaked to get on because of the heat slightly warping things. The metal tube in that area is the emissions tube. It runes from the back of the head to the air pump. Locking bolts are a good idea but they don't come loose as often as people say. I have some normal bolts from the hardware store and have never had any of them back out on me.
