Default Heater controls cable. Where is it?

I am having heating issues. Before I tear down to change the heater core I want to make sure all the componets are working. Where can I find the cable wire that controls the temperature under the hood. I am trying to figure out if I am stuck on ac because that is all that blows even with the **** on high heat. I am assuming my swtich is stuck.

Ok thanks. Does the cable open the heater core so it can transfer heat? Is there a by pass valve that is controlled by the cable?

no^^^^^^^it moves a blend door, coolant is constantly flowwing through the core , it has no valve to shut coolant flow off, if the blend door is working fine and the a/c isn't on then try and back flush the core, both hoses should be hot coming in and out for the most part, the outlet might be slightly cooler but not alot

I just found out that my temp **** hasn't been working. I was stuck on ac the whole time. I manually moved the cable to the warm side and I got slightly warmer air. I felt both of my hoses and they are not even hot.

Is engine up to temperature? Upper radiator hose got to touch? MJR46 gave you solution if engine is up to temperature. Backflush heater core...Remove both hoses going to heater core. Take water hose and flush oposite direction of normal flow(backflush). Crud comes out then you have success.

Ok one last question. Since I can't tell which direction flows since my hoses are not even hot. What tube do I do I back flush? The drivers side or passenger side?

Looking at your firewall the heater hose toward the drivers side is the inlet side (3/4" hose with the restrictor) the hose toward the passenger side is you outlet side (5/8"hose).
