Default Radiationation

Hey just a few questions about aluminum core/tanks vs the factory copper ones.

My motor is completely stock and currently is leaking from the radiator and it's getting cold here so I can't run straight water. Would it be worth it to op for an aluminum core/tank? I can buy one with a copper core and plastic tanks from the local autoparts for like 87 bucks. My motor is not gunna last forever so I feel like if I go with the aluminum it might be better down the road...but on the other hand I'm broke as a *****. I know the plastic tanks won't stay together forever...Don't alot of drag car radiators have plastic tanks anyways?

drag cars..plastic tanks?? umm not anyones I've seen, most are of a solid construction/material, I bought an ebay 159.00 aluminum radiator for my 89 2 years ago, quality suprisingly was good and cools well as well as it works great

After dumping antifreeze into thy holy radiator I noticed some leakin from the water pump. I think I need to replace the gasket too. *sigh*

While I'm at it I wanna check the thermostat. Is it true that once you take it out you can't put it back in?

I've never heard of not being able to use an old thermostat as long as its good. But for the price of a new one (most expensive being 15ish bucks?) I dnt see why not just replace it while its off.

But ya I work at an auto parts store and I've known of many people re-using their thermostats with no problem.

you can reuse the t-stat, and if the coolant is coming out the underside of the weep hole on the pump = need pump
