Default How much for a solid 5.0?

Hey everyone, I am going to be wanting a car soon, and though I switch my mind a million times between which type of mustang I would want, it seems like the fox, though maybe not as pretty or comfortable, is a fun, cheap (as far as cars go) toy. Whenever I look it up on youtube it seems like what I find is people having a blast and putting these cars through hell.

So how much would you spend?

I only have a couple of requirements, that it is a 5.0, a manual, and a notchback.

What are the difference between the 87-93? Were those the years of the notch?

Here are a couple of ads on craigslist that I found. The first one I really like the looks of. Engine bay seems to look clean as well. What sort of things should I look for when I am ready to check out getting a new car? I figure winter or very early spring in MA would be the best time to buy as everyone wants cars that can go in the snow.

Thanks for any help... I'm pretty new to info on a 5.0

How much would I spend?

- Depends on the condition of the car. Personally I would only spend 2-3k for a nice fox. Probably maybe 5.5k for a mint one. You can get a fox in decent condition for around 1.5k. I bought my '93 for $900 if that puts it in perspective (the motor wasn't running well, but the body looked exactly like it does in my signature).

- If you're wonderin about the body styles just do a google search and read up on the history of the mustang. 79-86 is what is referred to as the "four-eyed" foxes, and 87-93 are the "aero-nosed" foxes...and they've actually been makin notchbacks since '65

- Check for rust in the usual places-hatch lid, floor boards, the bottom of doors. If it's a GT or LX hatch there may be some hiding underneath the spoiler, but may be visible around the edges.

oh and notchbacks with big meats are FTW

Thanks man, I can't believe how cheap those things are haha... I have driven a 98 civic for the past 7 years and just hit 100,000 miles on it. It's not even worth it to sell it at this point, it does its job just fine.

But I want something loud and ludicrous, and the notchbacks are the only style that I actually like the look of for those mustangs. They seem like they are getting harder to find! After looking it up I think I would like to stick around the 87-93 area, I like that style better.

Where do you live where you can get a nice fox for 1.5k?!? Here in MA maybe people just want a lot more for their stuff. Either that or maybe it's because cost of living and such... we get paid more but we also pay more compared to other states. I don't think I have ever seen anything that wasn't a rusted out banged up looking pos sell for 1.5k.

What do you think of that first craigslist ad that I posted? From the pictures it looks really clean, at least in my eyes haha.

I live in MD. You really just need to wait and find someone who just wants to get rid of it.

The first car you posted looks pretty good. Be careful about the foxs with 349857304987 mods cuz they're probably really worn out and once you get it in your driveway you start to notice shtuff fallin off it all over the place. People tend to jack up the price cuz of the mods they have.

Nothin wrong with callin the dude up and goin to take a look at it.

A nice 5.0 stick notch is a hard car to find cheap. Especially a clean one. I live i N.Y. and one without rust is a rarity. A decent 5.0 LX hatch or GT in this neck of the woods is at least 3000 or better.
