Default Degreeing my cam?

hey guys am getting all my parts together to finally do my h/c/i. i am taking out my unknown cam and installing my stock cam for now. when i install it do i need to degree it? thanks mike

You can install it straight up without having to degree it. If your timing chain has has advance/retard keyways, you can advance the timing. The keyways usually give you 4 degrees either way. This was a trick that the early factory stock 5.0 racers did back in the day.

there are plenty of write up's on this. all you really need is a dial indicator, and a lot of time. lol


degreeing a stock cam +4 degrees advance has been shown to make big improvments.
