Default Advice on Summer build?

I have a 93 169K (no rebuild) 5.0/T-5 hatch back
Mods:
BBK shortys/BBK offroad Hpipe/dumped Flowmasters/
Smog delete/AC delete/Under-drive pulleys/BBK Cold air/
3.73s/stage 2 clutch

I am looking to do a summer build and this is my DD. I am looking to get around
300-350 rwhp with around 3k-3.5k to play with.

What do you guys recommend?

I was thinking about a gt40 intake (lower ported)/gt 40 heads (ported)/Some sort of cam/injectors/maf/throttle body/fuel pump/tune

But 169K without a rebuild and being my DD makes me a bit skeptical.

Ive never done an engine rebuild but was considering going the route of picking up a block and tearing it down myself. Then taking it to the machine shop and having it bored over to make it a 306. In addition get Forged pistons at least. For around 3k what quality bottom end parts could I get as well as what power adders could I acquire as well?

Basically just looking for the most reliable 300 rwhp setup for a reasonable
amount of money.

Thanks,
Jake

You could get away with freshening up your short block like 302army did. Or you could just buy a new short block from one of the bigger companies. Unless you are into learning how to do it yourself? But with 3500 to play with I would just freshen up your shortblock for a few hundred dollars and then go for HCI!!

If you have the money, don't waste it on port and polishing regular GT40's. Get a nice aluminum head that flows better.

Agreed with above! Look into a nice set of trickflow heads, then the key is to get a matching intake and cam for the power range so nothing is working against each other. U will also need a Maff injectors tune fuel pump and a few other small bits. Not to mention if u havnt updated ur cooling system u may have a few problems there
